The concept is simple: starting in 2014, and for a hundred years years thereafter, a foundation collects a manuscript a year from a well known writer and then puts that in a vault where no one will ever see it. In 2114, the vault will be opened and the one hundred manuscripts inside will finally be published.
That means we can never read anything put in the vault during our lifetimes, given it will not be open until after we're all dead. Only babies born now and thereafter have any chance of reading what's inside but only when they're very old.
Every library should be open and accessible to as many people as practicable. Deliberately hiding books in a closed library serves no purpose.
I'd like to read two of the books already in the library. But I'll never have that chance nor will you. Unless medicine progresses in the next few decades that allows us all to live to be 150.
